ACS offers exciting ongoing and technically diverse training to its members. The ACS program was created by PEMA to supplement its emergency communications with unpaid staff. Skilled and dedicated people, licensed and unlicensed, can be recruited to serve in one or more of four categories:\u00a0 administrative, management, technical, and operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/publication\/fog-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Auxiliary Communications Field Operations Guide or AUXFOG<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"page-title\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/safecom\/enifog-mobile-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eNIFOG MOBILE APP<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1><a id=\"RACES\"><\/a>RACES<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">One service within the amateur radio services that uses amateur stations during periods of emergencies is known as the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, or RACES. To transmit in RACES, an amateur station must be certified and registered by a civil defense organization or an FCC-licensed RACES station. RACES is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and acts as a communications group of the government. Registered members of RACES are authorized to respond when a civil defense organization requests amateur radio assistance. Typically these activities occur during periods of local, regional or national civil emergencies such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods or wildfires. RACES stations may only communicate with specified stations [47CFR 97.407(c), (d)].<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a id=\"ARES\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">A<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">mateur <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">R<\/span>adio <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">E<\/span>mergency <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">S<\/span>ervice<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">ARES was created by the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League). The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\/ares\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amateur Radio Emergency Service\u00ae (ARES)<\/a> consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>ARES\u00ae Mission Statement<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Amateur Radio Emergency Service, a program of the ARRL, offers to its partners at all levels, trained Amateur Radio Service licensees who are skilled in the use of a wide range of emergency and disaster communications techniques and who are committed to supporting our partners\u2019 missions in service to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>ARES\u00ae Vision Statement<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Amateur Radio Emergency Service\u00ae (ARES\u00ae), a program of ARRL, The national association for Amateur Radio\u00ae, is comprised of organized, trained, and identified Amateur Radio operators who augment and support vital communications on behalf of the public through partner agencies and organizations during emergencies and disasters. The Amateur Radio Emergency Service, through its volunteer radio communicators, strives to be an effective partner in emergency and disaster response, providing public service partners at all levels with radio communications expertise, capability, and capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Amateur Radio Emergency Service\u00ae (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes. Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization is eligible to apply for membership in ARES. Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES. Please inquire at the local level for specific information. Because ARES is an Amateur Radio program, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership.
