December 23, 1919 – April 10, 2014<\/span><\/h1>\n
Robert Grant Hildebrand, Sr., 94, died on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He was the husband of Purdeon M. (Luckenbaugh) Hildebrand. Together they celebrated 73 1\/2 years of marriage.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Born in York, on December 23, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles E. Hildebrand, Sr. and the late Margaret B. (Keppel) Hildebrand.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He worked at Caterpillar,<\/span><\/div>\n
He retired from Maple Press, where he was a printer.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Robert served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the West York V.F.W. Post 8951 and the Pleasureville American Legion Post 799.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He was a ham radio operator WA3CLV.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven Douglas Hildebrand of Mount Wolf; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Hildebrand, Jr.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
